Epidemiology of Dying & End-of-Life Experience (EDELE)

EDELEThe EDELE website is an access point for healthcare providers, advocacy organizations, health services researchers, and state policy makers to find data about the experience of end of life. Developed by The Carolinas Center for Hospice and End of Life Care and NHPCO, edeldata.org is an on-line, searchable catalogue of links to nearly 300 web pages and websites with data about people who died and their families, healthcare and community resources for end-of-life care, use of these resources, and outcomes and satisfaction with care. Data are available for every state although the site focuses on North and South Carolina. In the coming months, data will be added for other states.

Users can search by topic, keyword, state, or frequently asked questions and an advanced search feature allows users to find data that meet several different criteria. Search results consist of a list of web pages where relevant data can be found. Along with a direct link to each web page in the list, the EDELE site provides detailed information about the type of data (static or customizable) found on each page, how often the data are updated, the format of the data display (tables, graphs, maps), and much more.
