The Journey of Dementia

Dementia expert Teepa Snow presents "The Journey of Dementia" January 17 from 9 am until 4 pm at the Carolina Event and Conference Center, 374 Hudlow Road, Forest City, NC. Nursing home administrators, nurses, social workers, and counselors receive continuing education credit. Cost is $60 which includes the conference, CE credit, breakfast and lunch. MOST ACP Facilitator Certification

Palliative Care Immersion Course

Join the Four Seasons team in a dynamic, week-long educational experience aimed at enhancing your competencies and knowledge base in palliative care.  Held in March, June and October of 2012, the Palliative Care Immersion Course is designed for physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and clinical nurse specialists. The course will develop participants' palliative care competencies in complex case management, pain and symptom interventions, ethics, goal setting, and communication skills.  Financial and business aspects of palliative care, including effective billing and coding, expected caseloads/setting, and quality data tracking will be covered.  Held in Asheville, North Carolina, the course provides 40 hours CME Category I through an experiential learning style. Classes Offered by Upstate AHEC

Upstate AHEC is dedicated to providing a comprehensive selection of continuing education offerings for health care providers. Annually, Upstate AHEC provides more than 250 continuing education programs delivered throughout its eleven county service area and designed to meet the education and training needs of the region's health care workforce. AHEC programs assist health practitioners in expanding their knowledge, increasing their competency, and in maintaining professional licensure and certification.

DHHS Offers Free Provider Workshops

DHHS regularly offers free workshops for their providers. Currently, there are free workshops offered by the SCDHHS which include Comprehensive Web Tool and Overview of Third Party Liability.

Health Literacy for Public Health Professionals Online Training

To help public health professionals respond to the problem of limited health literacy, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have launched a free "Health Literacy for Public Health Professionals Online Training" program. The purpose of this training is to educate public health professionals about limited health literacy and their role in addressing it in a public health context.

This is a web-based course and can be accessed 24/7 by any computer with Internet access. It takes 1.5 to 2 hours to complete. Trainees can earn a variety of continuing education credits.
